Amanda is a founder and Clinical Director of Sakura Health & Wellness, bringing over 20 years of experience in mental health to her role as Principal Psychologist.
With a background in paediatric psychology, Amanda has worked extensively with children, adolescents, and parents across a range of clinical and community settings. She is particularly skilled in supporting families navigating developmental, emotional, and behavioural challenges, as well as working with young people experiencing anxiety, trauma, depression or neurodivergence. She has a strong background in psychological assessment, including ASD, ADHD, cognitive, developmental, and educational assessments, which she uses to support accurate diagnosis and tailored intervention planning.
Amanda draws on a range of psychological approaches in her work, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy and other evidence-based approaches to best suit client needs. Amanda will utilise the most effective approach for children and their families based on the child’s age, developmental stage and specific concerns.

She has developed group-based and individualised programs in both school and clinical settings, helping young people develop tools to manage stress, navigate social challenges, and foster a strong sense of self-worth. Her approach blends therapeutic insight with practical strategies, making her programs both impactful and accessible for young clients and their families.
In addition to her work with families and young people, Amanda has provided psychological support and consultation to emergency services personnel, with a focus on trauma recovery, stress management, and the psychological impact of high-risk, high-demand environments. As an early career organisational psychologist, Amanda understands the unique pressures faced by first responders and has worked closely with individuals and teams to enhance mental resilience, manage burnout, and navigate the organisational demands of frontline work.
As a Board Approved Supervisor, Amanda is passionate about assisting early career psychologists delivering high-quality, evidence-based care that is compassionate, client-centred, and grounded in real-world understanding.
Outside of work Amanda enjoys spending time with her family, her husband, three adult children and is a fur mum to their German Shepherd, Zeke.
